MEP welcomes Chinese Language Assistants to the UK

Local MEP Graham Watson has welcomed to the UK five Mandarin Chinese teaching assistants from Taiwan who for the next ten months will work in South West schools from Cornwall to South Gloucestershire introducing basic Chinese.

Commenting from the annual Lib Dem Party Conference in Brighton, after the official launch, Graham said:

"I was delighted to welcome to London the five assistants taking part in the 'Broadening Horizons' project who for the next ten months will be based in the South West. Their enthusiasm and commitment was obvious and I am convinced that they will make a valuable contribution in sowing the seeds for better language teaching in this country."
