Watson logs on as 'Transition Towns' website branches out3.25.29pm BST (GMT +0100) Tue 24th Apr 2007 Regional Lib Dem Euro-MP Graham Watson has heralded the arrival of a new website set up to link together eco-friendly towns, cities and villages from all over the world seeking to find practical alternatives to our current dependence on fossil-fuels. The website already includes a number of towns in Devon, Cornwall and Gloucestershire. By enabling individual environmental groups to upload information on their activities, the website is acting as a focal point for all groups that are organising to become less dependent on traditional energy sources. Already featured on the website are contributions from local environmental groups in Devon (Totnes, Ivybridge, Moretonhampstead, Ashburton, Ottery St Mary), Cornwall (Falmouth), Gloucestershire (Stroud) and also one from Bristol. Commenting, Graham Watson said: "Climate change is the biggest problem we face. We all need to do our bit to reduce, reuse and recycle but it's refreshing to see towns starting to link to together in this way and to share ideas and know-how. If we're going to beat rising sea levels and the host of other problems global warming will bring, we need to think and to act in a joined-up way and I'm delighted that many groups in my constituency have taken the initiative through this new website." The Transition Towns website can be accessed via: http://transitiontowns.org/
