Lib Dem MEP visits Environment Agency

1.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Fri 21st Apr 2006

Graham Watson, the Lib Dem Euro-MP for Exeter, will today visit the Environment Agency offices at Manley House, Exeter on Friday 21st April. Following Graham's speech at the international conference, 'Environmental integration and economic development' in Exeter on 22nd February, he was invited by the Environment Agency to visit their offices.

A keen champion on the need to protect the environment, Graham campaigns for an end to over-reliance on fossil fuels, through investment in renewable energy and increased efforts on energy conservation.

Graham said:

"EU governments need to bite the bullet on implementing gas and electricity liberalisation, to make sure that the energy supply to the EU is secure. As consumers we must all do our bit to reduce consumption by being more vigilant over the amount of energy we are using. That will also have the happy side effect of reducing our bills!"
