Chilcompton residents are overjoyed at news (on September 22nd) that EU funding will allow the building of a pavilion on the Recreation Ground. This will allow football to continue to be played there.

Graham Watson MEP, who got involved when the Chilcompton Recreation Project contacted him in May 2005 and who helped steer them towards the source of funding, expressed his joy at the news.

"I remember from my childhood how much fun playing football is. Sport these days - at a time when children are increasingly overweight - is even more important. I am delighted that DEFRA has made EU funding available for the new pavilion."
